Signs indicating the connector might be at fault are:
► Intermittent or not charging.
► Dead battery; Battery charge light does not come on when power is connected, unit will not power on.
► Won't charge unless the cord is held in one position. When the power cord is wiggled it makes or loses contact.
► The pin in the center of the connector is loose, pushed in or missing... or The whole connector is loose.
► As the power cord is connected to the notebook you may notice any or all of these symptoms: Sparks at or
near the power jack, Arcing / Popping sounds, A burning smell.
NOTE: Dead Battery; If charge light is on, battery won't charge and your power adapter gets super hot, you need a battery... QUICK!
This condition usually leads to burnt charging circuits, blown power adapters, burnt jacks and if your machine was part of a recall... a fire hazard.
Overheating? ~ Deep Cleaning Service: $49
► Laptop CPU Heat Sink, Fan(s), Keyboards... The entire assembly is cleaned just like new.
Cleaning should be performed anually at bare minimum.
Recommended interval is every 6 months for all computers under normal conditions.
If your desktop tower sits on the floor, you have pets, anyone smokes indoors, your computer is powered on for more than 2 hours a day, your laptop is used frequently in various locations including on the floor and/or furniture; If any of these conditions apply then it is Recommended that you have your machines cleaned every 3 months minimum depending on the severity of the environment. Machines used in harsh evironments should be cleaned monthly.
Bi-Annual, Quarterly, and Monthly Maintenance programs are available at discounted rates; the more frequent your machines require cleaning, the lower the price. Not only does a maintenance program save you money on cleaning, it also saves you in computer repairs and early replacement.
Most well maintained machines have an average life expectancy of 5 years, where the first failures are usually hard drives and display related.
Neglected machines that become as dirty as the one depicted below, will experience CPU, graphics and other system hardware failures long before the end of their lifecycle.
Operating system failures are inevitable, especially where Windows is concerned due to the proliferation of viruses and malware targeted specifically at that OS.
The odds of PC users who have migrated to Linux and those who own Macs becoming infected with a virus or malware are less the 1 percent as these systems are far more secure, stable, and difficult to infect, especially where corrupting the whole OS is concerned.
With Mac and Linux machines we only see mechanical failures due to neglect and abuse of those machines.
